Damien Georis studied Agricultural Engineering at the University of Gembloux in Belgium, after which he received the French National degree of Enology from the University of Bordeaux in 2000. He has since trained at Chateau Léoville-Las-Cases in the Saint-Julien appellation and Chateau Nénin on the Right Bank of the Bordeaux region, eventually becoming the winemaker at Chateau Nénin. Following this, Damien was the winemaker at Chateau Olivier in the Pessac-Léognan appellation for five years. In 2005 Walter and his sons began a search for a winemaker in France to take over winemaking for their family winery. After searching the internet they found Damien with the same last name, soon after they met in France and found he and Walter came from the same small town in Belgium. Needless to say, Damien has been the head winemaker for Georis Winery ever since.
